What does it cost? What a Library wedding costs, and what is in the price

A dance floor at night, hands in the air, caught on flash
A bride greeting guests in a church, a boy in glasses watching from the aisle
A ceremony in the open air, a baby held among the guests
An older man in black tie standing with the couple

You can’t take it with you.

The flowers wilt, the cake gets eaten, the suit goes back in the cupboard. The photographs are what your grandchildren will hold. This page is about what that costs, and it hides nothing.

How our pricing works

  1. Every photographer here sets their own price.

  2. There are two ways to hire an artist: the full day or the half day. We don’t do hourly rates, because a wedding is not billable hours. Elopements and civil ceremonies are half days. This kind of flexibility is a paradigm shift in the wedding industry, where you are not measuring value by the metric of time.

  3. The price is the whole price. Everything you need is in it. If you want more, a second photographer, an album, prints, each has one plain price, told to you upfront. No hidden costs. No markups. No surprises.

If the budget doesn’t align

If our range sits past your budget, don’t disappear. The collective has associates: the next generation of Library photographers, experienced artists building their body of work inside the collective, mentored by the members and priced below the members’ floor. An associate leads your wedding, and a member reviews every gallery before it reaches you. You get the collective honestly, at a number you can reach, and an artist with everything to prove.

Tell us your budget in the enquiry. If an associate is the right fit, our first reply will say so, with their price.

What you are hiring

The couple on a balcony above a ballroom full of guests, under the chandeliers
A garden reception: white parasols and picnic rugs under a great tree, the guests spread across the lawn

What you are hiring

The full day

A photographer who is dedicated to capturing your day in full. The start time is determined without time restrictions, and the end time is determined when the story is covered. This allows a photographer to be extremely present on the day and never watch the clock.

A bride walking an outdoor aisle on her father’s arm between the seated guests

What you are hiring

The half day

This is well suited to elopements, registry weddings and small events.

The Commission

And above the full day sits one way to commission the collective. A Commission is not a bigger package; it is the collective assembled around one wedding. A lead artist whose eyes you chose, a second artist who is also a full member, coverage across days if your wedding sprawls across days, film if you want the day moving.

It is priced from the same published parts, the lead’s price, the set rates, the set costs, so even the largest wedding we shoot carries no number that isn’t on a sheet. Commissions are rare and built one at a time.

The Library Service

Whoever you hire, the service around the photographs is the same: a consult to find out whether we are a fit, as many conversations as you need, a direct line to your photographer, editing done by hand and never outsourced, a private gallery within two to three weeks, and a handpicked “How we saw it” photobook, as a gift.

Extras

Questions couples actually ask

  • When do we get the photos?

Two to three weeks, the full gallery. You’ll get warning, so you can plan the night you sit down to see them.

  • How many?

Extensive. Roughly a hundred for every hour we’re with you, more with a second photographer, every one edited to your day’s look.

  • Do you do formal photos?

We’ll build the family list with you and get every one. Direction stays light and suggestive; we do the looked-at-the-camera ones when it feels right.

  • Do you do film?

As part of a Commission, yes.

  • Do you travel?

Anywhere. At cost, on the quote, never marked up.

The promise

The first reply you get from us has the number in it. Tell us your date, your chosen photographer and your budget, and we’ll come back with exactly what they cost.

We take a limited number of weddings a year, on purpose. You are buying a full day of one artist’s creative energy, and that only exists if we protect it.

When you’re ready, you customise your booking in the portal, sign the contract, and pay a $1,500 deposit online. That’s the whole process.

We promise we won’t spam you with endless emails that take years to escape from, and there are no tiny “unsubscribe” buttons hidden in corners. We will just send you the information you need.
