No safe shots.

The studio model is built on the safe shot: the shot list, the guaranteed product, the wedding as deliverable. We’re building this for people who want to shoot freely and independently whilst having structure, support and community.

By sharing the load you can focus on your work and support other passionate photographers.

Who this is for

This is for the person who falls between wanting to work alone and wanting to work for studios. The studio gives you weddings and takes the rest: your name, your style, most of the fee, and eventually your love of it. Working alone gives you all of it back and hands you everything else too, the marketing, the admin, the quiet season, the whole weight on one back. We are a third thing: independent artists, shared structure.

You stay independent

You shoot what you want. You set your own price. You are respected how you want to be respected. You own your images, from every wedding, forever. None of that is negotiable, and none of it is ours to touch.

And there is no exclusivity. A couple who books through you directly is yours entirely: you keep 100%, no central fee, no referral cut, and you still use the systems, the brand and the support. The pool takes only from what the pool creates.

Some of you want to build your own name, your own site, your own following, your own marketing. Good. We are not asking you to fold your name into ours. Keep it. Build it. Your own funnel stays 100% yours, Library’s funnel books you at your price, and the structure, the systems, the cover, the community, runs under both. And "Member, Weddings by Library" on your own site tells a couple you are vetted, reviewed and backed.

What the collective holds

Marketing

It is easier to see greatness in others than in yourself, so we market each other, and the collective’s brand-led marketing puts your work in front of couples who resonate with it. Every marketing decision is visible internally.

Enquiries that match your energy

We are not chasing bulk bookings. We will never push you to shoot anything that doesn’t align with your vision.

What the collective holds

Admin

Contracts, comms, galleries and delivery run through one system, reducing the paperwork and stress of running a business.

What the collective holds

Cover

If you are in your busy season, other members can help you with editing, selecting, uploading and content. In their busy season, you can do the same for them. Second shooting and editing between members happen at set rates, so nobody negotiates with a colleague.

What the collective holds

The pool

Alone, 10% of your profit might buy $1,000 a month of reach. Pooled, that same share becomes something more like $7,000, and it also buys what none of us could alone: workshops, mentorship, training with the world’s best wedding photographers, flights to shoot together, trips to photograph rituals that aren’t weddings.

The pay, plainly

Most studios pay their photographers 25 to 35% of the couple’s fee and keep the rest. We flipped it. The couple pays Library, Library pays you the bulk of it at the price you set, and a small share goes to the pool, deducted before the payout the way tax is, so contributing is never a chore and never a question. The split is [X]% to you, [Y]% to the pool, published to every member and every couple. Library photographers earn more than double the industry standard, and the share applies only to weddings the collective brings you.

Three ways in

Not everyone arrives with the portfolio. Some arrive with the eye and not the years. So there are three tiers, and each one is a real place to stand.

  • A bride in her gown crossing a bright bedroom towards the open doors
A bride and groom in white robes and crowns at their ceremony, in black and white
A bride hugged by a friend on the lawn as the guests close in

    Member

The experience, the philosophy and the portfolio are solid and a fit. Full membership: your page in the collection, weddings through the collective, a voice in peer review.

  • A groom straightening his scarf beside his bride in a white suit, on a stone balcony, in black and white
A bride in a halter dress laughing with a guest at a bar table, in black and white
Guests dancing in a blur of coloured light

    Associate

Experienced, but not there yet. Membership is an open, ongoing conversation: you second shoot and pick up editing at the set rates, and you lead your own weddings at associate prices, a member reviewing every gallery before delivery. Your work is reviewed as it grows, and the path to member is named, not vague.

  • Men with cameras photographing each other on a Paris plaza
A selfie at a wedding, two friends crowding in behind
An older guest turning to the camera in a bar full of banquettes, in black and white

    Apprentice

Not ready to join yet, but ready to be trained into a member. The portfolio building program: mentoring from members, training paid for by the pool, second shooting at the set rate, development with your name on it. You build the portfolio inside the collective instead of alone.

One honest thing

The tiers are trajectories, not incomes. We can’t promise you volume yet. What we promise is that you will never work for free here; every rung is paid at a set rate, in an industry whose entry price is usually exposure. A no from us is usually a not yet, and a not yet comes with a path.

How joining works

  1. Write to Jarred. We talk about your price, which you set, and whether this is for you.

  2. Answer a questionnaire and submit your portfolio and real weddings for review

  3. Meet the team

  4. Your work is peer reviewed by the members

  5. Assessment and placement: member, associate or apprentice

We accept on values fit first, work second. We curate for quality, and if it’s a no, we’ll say so plainly. Every member’s name stands behind every other member’s work.

Once you are in

We launch you properly. A portrait captured by one of us. Your words and your real weddings on the site, catalogued in the collection. CRM onboarding, the group chat, the weekly meet-ups, a social media introduction, and a content package built around you: a short doco, reels, a takeover, a real weddings post and an about post.

Every photographer who joins arrives with a body of work behind them and a collective in front of them.

Where this is going

Ten photographers across Australia, each shooting at least ten weddings a year through the collective. At that size the pool is significant: real advertising, PR, training with the best in the world, and the trips and gatherings that keep this a community rather than a roster.

After that, accreditation, so couples anywhere know a Library photographer is reliable and an artist in their own right, and a home for wedding filmmakers and content creators too. We are growing slowly and on purpose.

How it is run, and the catch

Plainly: Library is directed by Jarred, sixteen years a wedding photographer, most of them shooting the country’s biggest weddings for its most prominent studios. The brand and its direction sit with Library; your art sits with you, untouched. When the system has failed artists, it is the role of the artist to build new ways of working.

There is no catch. At least not one we have discovered yet.

Onboarding is open.

Positions are limited, because we grow slowly and intentionally. If this speaks to you, write to Jarred.
